<image:caption>On a busy Saturday full of sports with March Madness, high school post-season and more, we had room in our budget for a fun assignment involving a small town of less than 300 people enjoying a new tradition involving donkeys in their local school gymnasium. As the editor on shift, I was in charge of selecting, toning and cropping the images from our photographer Anna Griffin. I also uploaded these to the Columbia Missourian website and published them on deadline.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A good chunk of the Missourian’s coverage has to do with local sports at the high school and collegiate level. This article mentions two high school teams that made it to the state semifinals for basketball, but both fell to fourth place in the end. The two high schools include the Father Tolton Catholic High School Trailblazers, a private Catholic school in Columbia, Mo. and Southern Boone High School Eagles in Ashland, Mo. Ashland is in our distribution area and within the same county as Columbia, so we covered their game as well. These games were covered on the eve of the University of Missouri’s March Madness game which required us to get a volunteer to cover these games. I toned and uploaded these pictures to the Columbia Missourian website. All photos of Tolton and Southern Boone are in the order as uploaded on the website.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A special tradition at the University of Missouri is Engineering Week, affectionately known as “E-Week”. This weeklong celebration in mid-March is meant to celebrate the history and achievements of Missouri’s School of Engineering with traditions old and new regarding Saint Patrick, the Catholic Church’s Patron Saint of Engineers. One of the oldest traditions of E-Week is the St. Patrick’s Ball, a formal dance similar of that to prom, where a king and queen get crowned. This year saw the first Black king and queen be crowned. This event happened during a heavy sports weekend filled with March Madness, high school basketball post-season, and more. We had a volunteer photographer, Cara Penquite, cover this event because we were so stretched thin. I selected, toned, and uploaded the images to the Columbia Missourian website.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In March 2023, the Mizzou Men's Basketball team made it to the Sweet 16 round of the March Madness Tournament in Sacramento, CA. I was the sole editor in charge of communicating with our photographer Clayton Steward, receiving photos and scores in real time. I collaborated with the sports desk to produce the most accurate and up-to-date coverage as possible. I selected, toned and uploaded images to the Columbia Missourian website and prepared them for the print edition for the next day.</image:caption>
