Hello! My name is Cora Mitchell (they/them) and I’m a photojournalist for FOX21 News/KXRM in Colorado Springs, CO. I graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in May 2023 from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where I am a proud Murray Center alumni.

As a young professional, I believe the best way to tell the stories of under-served and marginalized communities is through the visual medium. As a member of a few different marginalized communities myself, one of my biggest goals is to improve the coverage of people like me in the mainstream.

My work at FOX21 consists of mostly video content in the form of nat packages, live shots and voiceover “b-roll” footage to make our evening newscasts visually engaging. I also occasionally write articles based on my packages and edit the shows and have previous collegiate experience with still photography.

As far as my personal projects go, I’m working on something huge with FOX21 that I’m so excited to share with you all, though I can’t quite yet. I also am delving into YouTube content creation with my channel Discography Diaries where I go through an artist’s entire discography and rate each song from worst to best. More on that shortly!

My films from 2022 and 2023, Marching Til The Sun Comes Up and House Call, were academic projects, but personal ones I am still proud of to this day. House Call is not publicly available at this time, but please feel free to watch the trailer on my College tab. I’m working on it!
